Metallic Plane Co. Plow Plane

Metallic Plow Plane Co.

This company was established by Elliot G. Storke in 1867, which was before Stanley was making planes.

They started producing this plow plane in the mid-1870s. The planes were artistically designed, which can be seen in the stylish quality of the simple lines, enhanced only by three diamond shapes cast in the fence.

There's probably 80% of the japanning. It is flaked off in places, It is still dark underneath and it still looks good. There are a few spots with rust where the finish is gone. The wood looks good. The bare metal is clean, with a few spots of stain, but not pitting. If it has been cleaned, it was very gently. No chips or cracks th the metal that I can see.

While the company's bench planes are common, the plow and filletster planes are not. This is a nice example to include in the history of early-American planemakers, G+ ........ Sold $1495.00
