Here's another interesting plane from the Metallic Plane Co., Auburn, N. Y. No. 3 size. This one has the star-wheel cutter adjustment. It also has the cast iron mushroom-shaped front knob, beech handle, adjustable throat and lightly corrugated bottom. The cutter is marked with the Excelsior markings. About 90% of the japanning remains, most of it missing on the cap.
