These are the earliest bitts (that's what they called them then) made by Russell Jennings Mfg Co, Deep River, Conn., U.S.A. This was the original location of the company, and they moved to Chester, Conn, in 1875, so, these are before that time, and for only a few years.
The box is for six 6 1/2-16th inch (an odd size) bits, of which there is one. There are three long dowel bits (4 1/2 - 5 inch - the short ones are about 2 1/2 inches) with wrappers. There is also two 5 1/2-16th inch bits. They are all new.
The box has an early, decorative wallpaper cover with a label on the top and one end, with the size written in inkpen.
A wonderful piece of history, Fine ............ $95.00
