Steers Patent Jack Plane No. 405
Made by the Brattleboro Tool Co. Marked Pat June 8, 1880 and 405 on the cutter. This is a rare, later model of this patent. It has a cam-wheel cutter adjustment that resembles the L Bailey adjuster for his Victor planes. The frog is a thin casting that screws on to a flange on the body behind the throat. It apparently turned out to be as fragile as the Stanley type 3 frogs, so, a supporting rod was placed between the frog and the toe of the handle. This plane does not have the rosewood strips in the bottom. It's in very nice condition with a crisp rosewood handle and beaded front knob. G++ .......... Sold $400.00
