- STANLEY NO. 5C, JACK PLANE, Type 11, with T trademark on the full-length cutter. 1902 and 1910 patent dates cast in the bed. 99% japanning. Dark rosewood handle and low knob are very crisp. Some patina to the bare-metal surfaces. The japanning is a little duller around the handle and knob. Someone may have added some lacquer or linseed oil to the bed. - STANLEY NO. 10, CARRIAGE MAKER'S RABBET PLANE, V trademark (ca. 1910) on the cutter, which is near full-length. 96% japanning - some is missing from the back end. Crisp rosewood handle and short knob. There is patina on the bare metal surfaces. It is in original condition, so I am leaving it the way it is, Fine .......... Sold $245.00

- STANLEY NO. 10, CARRIAGE MAKER'S RABBET PLANE, V trademark on the cutter, which is close to full-length. It has all of its japanning. Since it has been heavily cleaned, it may have been redone. Dark rosewood handle and short knob are very crisp. A great user, Fine .......... $220.00

- STANLEY NO. 10, CARRIAGE MAKER'S RABBET PLANE, This plane has the rare cutter that has the screw on the top, and a slot in the chip-breaker so it can be removed while still in the plane, so the rabbet cutter and chip breaker can slide out through the throat. This was sold from 1884 to 1890 only. J trademark on the cutter, Bailey's Dec 24, 1867 patent date on the chip breaker.
95% japanning, good length to the cutter. Crisp rosewood handle with the forward-sweeping curve and low knob, and thin, graceful lines on the sides of the body are characteristics which are associated with these early planes. There is some minor patina on the bare metal surfaces. In original, uncleaned condition, Fine .......... $450.00

- STANLEY NO. 10 1/2, CARRIAGE MAKER'S RABBET PLANE, This one is the smooth plane size. V logo on the cutter with 1/4 inches of meat left dates this one to around 1915. 93% japanning on the body with a bit of dirt. Dark rosewood handle and low knob have some tool-box dings. Some patina and a few dings on the sole won't affect use. A nice plane, G++ .......... $225.00

- STANLEY NO. 20, CIRCULAR PLANE, Later japanned model. Notched-rectangle logo on the full-length cutter. The heaviest circular plane made by Stanley, it's considered the best one for using. A steel adjusting nut dates this one as WW II vintage. 85% Japanning remains - missing mostly from scuffed side rails. Some patina and stain on the bare-metal surfaces, but a great user, G+ ............... Sold $185.00

- STANLEY NO. 20, CIRCULAR PLANE, Early nickel plated model. (18)92 patent date on the cutter, 2-7-(18)93 patent date cast in the body. The heaviest circular plane made by Stanley. It's considered the best one for using. 95% nickel plating remains. There is some stain on the top of the sole from age. The bottom is a lot nicer. Some light rust on the bare-metal surfaces. - STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO., No. 27, JACK PLANE. Wood Bottom (18)92 patent date on the cutter. This is a prime example of an early transitional (wood bottom) plane. 97% of the original finishes remain. Absolutely hasn't been cleaned. The owner stamped his name on the front and back. It has been a long time since I have seen one this nice. Fine+ ............ $145.00

- STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO., No. 35, SMOOTH PLANE. Wood Bottom (18)92 patent date on the cutter. This is a prime example of an early transitional (wood bottom) plane. 97% of the original finishes remain. There are some paint scuffs on one side (shown) from planing a door or window. That may come off, but I just wanted to leave it original. Absolutely hasn't been cleaned. The only apology is that the owner stamped his name on the top of each side. - STANLEY NO. 48, TONGUE & GROOVE PLANE, Used to make a 5/16 inch tongue and groove joint on 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inch boards, centering on 7/8 inch stock. B casting mark on the body and ivy design on the handle dates this one to around 1900. Almost all of the nickel plating remains but is a bit worn on the fence (that has small owner's initials). Has the extra cutter for wider boards, Fine ........ Sold $135.00

An early nickel-plated one with the ivy design on the handle. S casting marks and the same thumb screws as the japanned model, but nickel plated (which I haven't seen before). 80% of the nickel plating remains, G+ ........ $105.00

Sweetheart logo on the cutter with one inch of meat left, and BEDROCK on the cap date this one to the '20s. The dark rosewood handle and tall knob are crisp. It looks like the japanning has been enhanced. Has been lightly cleaned. A very nice user, G++ ............ $350.00

- EDWIN HAHN NO. 3 SMOOTH PLANE, (No. 4 size) Wilkes-Barre, Penn. 1908-18.
Hahn was apparently influenced by Siegley, although there is no known connection.
Aside from an unusual lateral adjuster, the main feature seems to be that the chip-breaker is attached to the cap. Almost all of the japanning remains. Some patina on the bare metal surfaces, G+ ........ $175.00

- SARGENT NO. 422 VBM (Very Best Made), JOINTER PLANE, (No. 7 size) The cutter has 1 1/8 inches of meat left. It is marked for the 418 plane, so, it may be a replacement. 95% japanning. The East India mahogany handle has some nice flame-grain, and looks like the base was relieved a bit so a bigger hand could fit it. The handle and short knob have some tool-box wear. That rectangle on the bed in front of the cutter should probably had a brass plate, but it's gone. Some patina to the bare-metal surfaces, but a great user,G+ ........ Sold $90.00

Thick-tapered cutter has 1 1/2 inches of meat left. 96% japanning is a little grimy in places. Mahogany handle and low knob have some tool-box dings. There's some patina on the bare metal surfaces. No. 9 1/2 Note: The Stanley No. 16 is the same as the No. 9 1/2 except the cap is nickel plated. The No. 18 is the same except for a knuckle-joint cap, which is very nice for using. The Millers Falls No. 16 is virtually the same as the Stanley 9 1/2.

- Boxed STANLEY NO. 45 COMBINATION PLANE Sweetheart logo on the skate. 7 Planes in one ... 1-Beading and Center Beading, 2-Plow, 3-Dado, 4-Rabbet, 5-Match Plane, 6-Sash Plane, 7-Slitting Plane. This one is complete with the long and short rods, depth stops, cam, but missing the screwdriver. There is a double-box cutter set with all 23 cutters. A few have been lightly used. A few of them have some minor rust from storage, but not near the ends. 98% of the original nickel-plating remains. The rosewood is very crisp with a few scuffs to the finish on the handle.
The box is great with some minor damage to the top. The original instructions are nice. There are two blocks of wood for packing. One was to hold the cutter box in place in the box, I'm not sure what the other one did, Fine ......... $425.00

- STANLEY NO. 55 COMBINATION PLANE, Sweetheart logo on the skate and cutter boxes. Complete with long and short rods, all three depth stops, auxiliary center bottom, cam, and all 55 of the original cutters, which are in nearly-new condition with some minor rust on a few of them from storage. That can be lapped out while sharpening.
97% of the nickel plating remains on the plane with a light dusting of rust in a few places. The dark-rosewood handles and fences are very nice, with some minor rough spots on the small fence, which could use a minor clean-up for use. The cutter boxes are crisp, but there is some bug-damage to the labels.
