The ebonized (black) handle and knob are very crisp, with a few tool-box dings. It is marked imperfect on the cheek. I can't see any obvious reason why it would be.   17. UNION, JOINTER PLANE 7C, A very good company that was eventually bought out by Stanley. Near full-length cutter. The plane has had little use. 98% japanning. The mahogany? handle and low knob are very crisp with a couple of minor dings. The bare-metal surfaces have picked up some rust from age. It can use a bit of cleaning. Will be a great user.   18. STANLEY BEDROCK NO. 607, JOINTER PLANE, Later model with flat sides and the three adjusting screws behind the frog. The (18)95 and (19)10 patent dates are cast in the bed. (18)92 patent date on the cutter, which has been sharpened and has good life left. BEDROCK on the cap. 90% japanning. Nice dark rosewood handle and tall knob have some minor tool-box dings.   22. STANLEY NO. 8C JOINTER PLANE, Notched-rectangle logo on the cutter, which is full-length. The cutter was made in January, 1936. The japanning may have been repainted. Nice rosewood knob, The handle is crisp, but has a small chip on the middle side at the top. Good throat. Some rust on the cap and the body - mostly on the right side, can use a bit of cleaning. Otherwise, it's crisp and is a very good user, G+ ...... Sold $145.00

  23. STANLEY BEDROCK NO. 608, JOINTER PLANE, Later model with flat sides and the three adjusting screws behind the frog, along with the (18)95 and (19)10 patent dates. This one has been set up for a user with a HOCK blade. The cap is a Stanley of the correct vintage, and they weren't marked at that time. The dark rosewood handle and tall knob are quite nice. The plane is clean with good japanning that look like it was enhanced. Some light patina on the bare-metal surfaces. Some minor roughness on the sole. A very nice user, G+ ............ Sold $275.00

  24. STANLEY NO. 10, CARRIAGE MAKER'S RABBET PLANE, Very close to perfect condition. Notched-rectangle logo on the cutter, which is near full-length, and was made in Feburary,1937. 99% japanning. Very crisp dark rosewood handle and tall knob. There is some light patina on the bare metal surfaces. It is in original condition, so I am leaving it the way it is, the top of the cutter may have been lightly cleaned. Needs some sharpening, Fine+ .......... Sold $225.00

  28. STANLEY NO. 13, CIRCULAR PLANE, Early Bailey's patent (1872-85), with the small half-circle J trademark on the cutter with about an inch of meat left. Solid adjuster nut. 60% japanning.   29. STANLEY NO. 20, CIRCULAR PLANE, This is the heavier circular plane produced by Stanley. WW II vintage with the notched-rectangle logo on the full-length cutter which was made in January, 1938.   58. SARGENT NO. 1068, MATCH PLANE, Patented Oct. 22, 1912 cast in the handle. This has the same function as the Stanley No. 148, but this is one instance where Sargent made their own design, which I think is wonderful... It is also a lot more uncommon. It has virtually all of its nickel plating which is a little dull, Fine .................. $230.00

  1. Fales Patent Combination Plane. Marked Otis Smith, Rockfall, Conn. and Pat Mar. 7, (18)82, & Apr. 1, (18)84 on the skate. Smith was the manufacturer.
    Aside from its styling, the main feature of the plane was soles that fit on the skate for each cutting profile. The Rosewood handle and knob and beech fence are in very nice condition. There is some light rust on the plane, G+ .......... Sold $225.00

  2. UNION NO. 44 COMBINATION PLANE. Made by Siegley and sold by Union. Complete in the original box. It has the long and short rods, all three depth stops, and flat green box that holds all 18 cutters. The cutters are very nice with minor dirt and cosmoline.
    The box has some damage. The box label and the instructions have some silverfish damage, Fine+ .......... Sold $395.00

  3. FOX MFG. CO. SCRAPER. This very graphic wood-body scraper is from Milwaukee, Wis. It still has most of the colorful decal on the side.
    Fox is stamped on the 3 1/2 inch wide cutter and imbossed on the cap. Overall length is 11 inches. Still very crisp, G++ .......... $295.00

  4. SIEGLEY PATENT PLOW PLANE. TYPE 1. Although Siegley Patent Plow Planes are rather common, this is one of the very few that have an all-metal fence with a micro-dial adjustment. Since Stanley bought out the Siegley company, it is easy to speculate that this is where the idea for the micro-dial fence on the Stanley 45 and 55 came from. Note that on a Siegley, the sliding section and fence go on different sides.
    Marked J. Siegley Pat. Aug. 19, 90 on the side of the body. It has a Stanley cutter and could use a bit of cleaning, G+ .......... $375.00

  5. CHAPLIN'S PATENT SMOOTH PLANE.Tower & Lyon Co., Chaplin's Improved smooth plane is 8 1/2 inches long, including the handle overhang. Earlier style with the scalloped edges on the sides of the body. The cutter seems to be unmarked. Checkered hard rubber handle is very crisp and ebonized knob. Most of the japanning remains. There is patina on the bare-metal surfaces which seem to have been lacquered, G+ .......... Sold $265.00

  6. BRONZE RABBET PLANE. This mahogany-stuffed bronze rabbet plane is 5 1/4 inches long, and about 3/8 inches wide. This one was probably craftsman-made, and has very graceful styling with a long, delicate screw cap. Probably British from the late 1800s, Fine ........ $375.00

  7. STANLEY RABBET ROUTER PLANE.This is a rare Stanley-made experimental plane designed for some special purpose. A deep center skate was built to cut a fixed-width groove. Rosewood handles. The metal has a rough surface, which is typical for these planes. There are remnants of the casting number that identifies this as from Stanley, G+ ..................... Sold $295.00

  8. BIRMINGHAM CARRIAGE-MAKERS T-RABBET PLANE. This is one of my favorites. Streamlined styling with a bat-wing design behind the cutter. This eight-inch, no. 3 size is an example of a rare plane.
    The company was in business from 1885 until 1900.
    This is the non-adjustable model. 95% japanning remains, G++ .......... Sold $450.00

  9. WESTON'S SIDE-HANDLE BELT PLANE. This one is unmarked, but the patent date was June 1, 1858.
    Early industry was run by water- and steam-power. Factories had a series of shafts and pulleys connected to the power source, running along the ceiling. Wide leather belting was used to transfer the motion from the ceiling to the machines on the floor. These planes were used to cut a wide bevel joint on each side of the belt so they could be sewn together and lie flat.This plane is in nice condition. STANLEY NO. 55 COMBINATION PLANE, Script logo on the skate dates this to around 1915 Complete with long and short rods, three depth stops, auxiliary center bottom, cam rest, screwdriver, screwdriver, and original instructions. All 52 cutters in very good condition are in four boxes - the slitter is on the plane. Sharpen the cutters on the flat side, so you don't alter the profile.

    95% of the nickel plating remains. The rosewood handles are very crisp. The inside of one of the fences have a few scuffed grooves on the inside edge. That shouldn't affect use.
