  1. STANLEY NO. 1 SMOOTH PLANE, Sweetheart trademark on the basically full-length cutter dates this one to the 1930s. Still in very-crisp original condition.
    This is the smallest size bench plane, at 5 3/8 inches, made by Stanley, and sought by collectors. 99% japanning remains. The dark rosewood handle and short knob are near perfect with a few minor tool-box dings. The plane is very crisp with some patina from age on the bare-metal surfaces.   2. STANLEY NO. 3 SMOOTH PLANE, Notched-rectangle logo on the cutter, with 1 3/4 inches of life left. Looks like WW II vintage. Most of the japanning remains. Nice nickel plating on the cap. Good throat and sole. Some patina on the bare-metal surfaces. The stained hardwood handle is crisp. The tall knob has some tool-box dings. "RADIO" is pricked on the side, G++ .... $75.00

  4. STANLEY NO. 3 SMOOTH PLANE, Type 5, 1885-1888 with the first lateral adjuster which was a bar, not a disk. STANLEY Rule &' Level Co. marking on the cutter with about an inch of meat left. 85% japanning with some dust. Super-nice early rosewood handle with the forward-sweep and low knob.   5. STANLEY BEDROCK NO. 603C, SMOOTH PLANE, An early one with the 1895 patent date cast in the bed. (18)92 patent date on the cutter with about 1 -inch of life left. STANLEY R. & L. Co. BEDROCK on the cap. Missing some japanning, but with an overall dark patina, it looks pretty good. Rosewood handle and low knob are very nice except for a few dings. Good throat. Rosewood handle and tall knob have some minor scratches, and a couple of small chips on the handle. Some patina and roughness on the bare-metal surfaces. Owner's initials on the side.   13. STANLEY NO. 4 1/2C SMOOTH PLANE, Corrugated bottom. Sweetheart logo on the cutter with 1 3/4 inches of meat left. (19)10 patent date cast in the bed. Nice japanning with a bit of rust spots in the corners. Rosewood handle has a small chip on the side. The tall knob has some light tool-box dings and an extra coat of finish. Some patina on the bare-metal surfaces. The throat has been opened a bit on one side, less than 1/16th, and could easily be filed straight. Has been lightly cleaned. A great user, G+......... $100.00

STANLEY NO. 5C, JACK PLANE, Type 10 or 11, (It has the frog adjusting screw, which I thought was the 1910 patent, but I have seen this on a few earlier ones) T trademark on the full-length cutter. 1902 patent dates cast in the bed. 95% japanning. Rosewood handle and low knob are nice, but the handle has a few dings at the top. Some patina to the bare-metal surfaces. Good throat.   34. STANLEY NO. 10, CARRIAGE MAKER'S RABBET PLANE, Very close to perfect condition. Notched-rectangle logo on the cutter, which is near full-length, and was made in Feburary,1937. 99% japanning. Very crisp dark rosewood handle and tall knob. There is some light patina on the bare metal surfaces. It is in original condition, so I am leaving it the way it is, the top of the cutter may have been lightly cleaned. Needs some sharpening, Fine+ .......... Sold $225.00

  45. STANLEY NO. 40 1/2, SCRUB PLANE, This is the wider one - has a 1 1/4 inch cutter, built for some serious scrub work.   46. STANLEY NO. 48, TONGUE & GROOVE PLANE, Used to make a 5/16 inch tongue and groove joint on 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inch boards, centering on 7/8 inch stock. Earlier one with the ivy design on the handle.B casting marks date it to 1900. 95% of the nickel plating remains, Fine ........ $110.00

  47. STANLEY NO. 51 AND 52, CHUTE BOARD and PLANE, For fine miter cuts. Notched-rectangle on full-length cutter. The number on the back says it was made in February, 1936. 99% of the japanning remains. Good nickel plating on the cap, but it is a bit dull. The cocobolo? handle is basically perfect.
    The board is complete and original. No breaks or repairs. There is some light patina from age, Fine ........ $1595.00

  48. In the Box SARGENT NO. 62, IRON ROUTER PLANE. Open throat. Complete with the throat-closing attachment and both cutters, which have several notches to fit only the Sargent with the helical adjustment screw. I haven't seen another with both cutters. Almost all of the nickel plating remains. The lacquer is worn on one knob. The box is rough, Fine ........ $225.00

  64. STANLEY NO. 90, BULL NOSE RABBET PLANE, Made in USA. Sweetheart logo on the cutter. These are much better and finished a lot nicer than the later ones that were coming out of England. The top comes off so it can be used as a chisel plane, too. 98% nickel plating. A bit of patina and and an owner's initial punched in the side (shown in the picture), Fine ........ Sold $110.00

  4. FOX MFG. CO. SCRAPER. This very graphic wood-body scraper is from Milwaukee, Wis. It still has most of the colorful decal on the side.

  5. SIEGLEY PATENT PLOW PLANE. TYPE 1. Although Siegley Patent Plow Planes are rather common, this is one of the very few that have an all-metal fence with a micro-dial adjustment. Since Stanley bought out the Siegley company, it is easy to speculate that this is where the idea for the micro-dial fence on the Stanley 45 and 55 came from. Note that on a Siegley, the sliding section and fence go on different sides.

  6. CHAPLIN'S PATENT SMOOTH PLANE.Tower & Lyon Co., Chaplin's Improved smooth plane is 8 1/2 inches long, including the handle overhang. Earlier style with the scalloped edges on the sides of the body. The cutter seems to be unmarked. Checkered hard rubber handle is very crisp and ebonized knob. Most of the japanning remains.   9. BIRMINGHAM CARRIAGE-MAKERS T-RABBET PLANE. This is one of my favorites. Streamlined styling with a bat-wing design behind the cutter. This eight-inch, no. 3 size is an example of a rare plane.

  10. WESTON'S SIDE-HANDLE BELT PLANE. This one is unmarked, but the patent date was June 1, 1858.
    Early industry was run by water- and steam-power. Factories had a series of shafts and pulleys connected to the power source, running along the ceiling. Wide leather belting was used to transfer the motion from the ceiling to the machines on the floor. These planes were used to cut a wide bevel joint on each side of the belt so they could be sewn together and lie flat.This plane is in nice condition.   5. STANLEY NO. 55 COMBINATION PLANE, Sweetheart logo on the skate. 1917 patent date on the sliding section. In the hinged wooden box with the cutters on the side. Complete with long and short rods, all three depth stops, auxiliary center bottom, cam, screwdriver. and all 55 of the original cutters, which are in nearly-new condition with some minor rust on a few of them from storage. That can be lapped out while sharpening.
    97% of the nickel plating remains on the plane. The dark-rosewood handles and fences are nice,with some minor dings and wear to the finish.
    The outside of the box has a crack and dirt. Includes the original instructions. The outside page is shredded, but the main instructions are still legible, Fine .......... $595.00
